The Wings of Knowledge Soar to Success Program is designed to help your child excel.  Whether they need skills strengthened or come to us for enrichment, we will develop just the right tutoring program for them.  We are able to do this for several reasons.  

 

First, our tutors are top achievers at local colleges such as Emory, GA Tech, Morehouse and Spelman.    Our founder personally selects only the most highly qualified candidates— qualified in both skill level and ability to communicate concepts effectively to our students.  These tutors inspire our students to reach for the top.  They hold the students to high standards, and that produces outstanding results.

 

Second, the Soar to Success Program has six components that add up to help your child’s education soar.  These components are found below:

 

1.  Assessment Testing:  During your initial visit, we will give your child a comprehensive diagnostic test in both Math and English.  This will cover skills basic to your child's current grade level.  We will analyze and give you the results the same evening.  The assessment is necessary because it gives Wings of Knowledge a birds eye view of your child's strengths and weaknesses.  This allows the staff to develop a program specific to your child’s needs, and it allows the tutor to know of areas which need special concentration.  The assessment is based on state and national criteria.

2.   Tutoring  that  personalized to your child's specific needs.  The recommended tutoring will cover both assistance in preparing for tests/quizzes and homework for current work being covered in school as well as allowing time to strengthen background skills that were shown to be weak during the initial assessment.  It is important to include enough time to work on background skills because these greatly affect both current and future class work and standardized testing.

3.  Cooperation with the school:  Wings of Knowledge will take into consideration any comments made by the student's teacher.  We will communicate with them via email and work together with them to help aid the student's success.

4.  Progress reports:  Parents will periodically receive a progress report from Wings of Knowledge.  The report will give information about the student's receptivity to tutoring as well as anything that can be done at home to boost child's success.  Additionally, during the last five minutes of the hour, parents can speak to the tutor on a daily basis.

5.  Study skills:  Students will learn valuable study skills during their sojourn at Wings of Knowledge.  We weave these skills into almost every session so that it becomes a habit and not just bullet points hidden in a notebook.

6.  Motivation:  Through the use of expertise that the students knows they can depend on, verbal praise, encouragement and high expectations, our tutors and staff continually motivate students to higher and higher levels of achievement.
